Rawai is a calm area in southern Phuket with a strong local feel and a well-established expat community. It is known for the seafood market by the pier, as well as its cafés, local markets, supermarkets, and Muay Thai gyms. Rawai Beach itself is not considered a swimming beach, as the shoreline is shallow and lined with boats, but the area is convenient for island trips and for daily life in the south of Phuket.
